Gary Edgley doesn't think either Boston Town or Sleaford would be happy to settle for a festive draw.

The Lincolnshire rivals will go head-to-head today (Boxing Day) at the DWB Stadium, with the Poachers boss convinced both teams are desperate for bragging rights and three United Counties League Premier Division points.

“It’s always a big game with a decent crowd,” Edgley told The Standard.

“We’re not sides who draw a lot of games.

“I don’t see it being a draw, so there will probably be a winner on the day - and it’ll probably be down to who prepares better over Christmas.”

Indeed, the two sides have only picked up four stalemates between them all season, Town three and the Greens one.

Goals from Alex Nichols and Ollie Pinner saw Boston leave Eslaforde Stadium with a 2-1 Lincs Senior Trophy success last month, Sleaford’s goal on that day scored by Liam Tunstall, who has since joined the Poachers.

The 28-year-old has is no stranger to scoring in this division and Edgley hopes he will bring some needed firepower to his squad.

“Liam has plenty of experience at UCL level and is a proven goal scorer,” the manager said.

“After having some time out he’s hungry to get back playing and wants to still prove he can score plenty of goals in the UCL.

“I believe he is going to be a very good addition to this squad and I am looking forward to working with him.”

Today’s match kicks off at 3pm.

Town suffered late heartbreak at Desborough on Saturday.

Danny Horton had given the away side the interval lead.

But Ar Tarn levelled after the break before scoring twice in the 87th and 90th minutes to claim a 3-1 win.
