The site is the latest way residents can submit entries for North Kesteven District Council’s (NKDC’s) NK Community Champions Awards 2017.

The event – of which the Sleaford Standard is a sponsor – will take place at The Venue, in Navenby, on Tuesday, October 17, and will be compered by BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Rod Whiting.

It will see awards handed out across eight categories.

They are Young Achievers Award, Community Business of the Year, Community Spirit Award, Contribution to a Better Environment, Contribution to the Arts, Contribution to Sport, Contribution to Health and Wellbeing, and – new for 2017 – Longstanding Contribution to an Organisation or Group.

District Council coporate director Phil Roberts said: “The awards are a way in which we can say thank you to those who help ensure that we have flourishing communities here in NK.

“We are conscious that statutory services cannot work in isolation and without the unsung heroes of our district who run events, help their neighbours and encourage better environments, sports and art involvement we would not have the wonderful district we have today.

“They make a massive contribution to the prosperity, health and wellbeing of our communities, and we couldn’t thank them more.

“I urge you to nominate someone who has made a difference over the past year, and join us in thanking them.”

Nominations can be made via the new website www.nkawards.org, where there is also further information about the event.

Forms can also be picked up from parish council or NKDC offices.

The district council says it needs “a simple, but as thorough as possible, citation” of the nominee’s service to put them in the running for an award.
