Nominate your stars

THERE are just days left for you to nominate for your unsung heroes from the world of education in this year’s Best in Schools Awards.

The Worksop Guardian is looking for those who make a difference, defy expectations and inspire others in and around your school - and we want you to tell us who they are!

Prizes will be awarded not just for teachers, but to all other people that help to make a child’s day at school enjoyable - as well as the kids themselves.

With just days remaining, we are still looking for nominations for:

l Best Crossing Patrol;

l Best Green School;

l Most Improved Student.

Prospect Hill Juniors took home the gong for Best Green School at last year’s glitzy awards ceremony.

They were nominated by pupil Jamie Farrar for the many environmentally friendly features at the school, including a five-star bug hotel, berry bushes, wildlife area, a quad area with vegetables and a weekly eco-group meeting.

Last year’s awards was a double celebration for the school, with Bradley Eden named as the Most Improved Student. He was nominated for it by his brother Darren who said he has improved massively in his school work.

Deserving winners will once again be presented with awards at a glamorous awards night in the summer.

Nominations have been flooding in, with aspiring table tennis stars from Redlands Primary School nominated for the Best Sports Team last week.

The five boys Tom McIntosh, Lewis Comley, Mathew Mudd, Regan Langley and Kieron Tutter (pictured) came within a whisker of winning the national title in March after scooping both county and zonal championships.

They have been nominated for all their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm when representing the school.

“The boys give up their dinner times and often train after school with their coach and teacher Steve Walker,” said Liz Langley from Sherwood Road.

“Their dedication and enthusiasm is unbelievable for boys of 10 and 11 years old and they deserve to be recognised for all the hard work that they have put in over the last few months.”

The Worksop Guardian’s Best In Schools Awards, sponsored by North Notts College, is in its second year of celebrating the shining stars of education from across the region.

And time is running out for you to get your entries in before our 9th May closing date.

With a host of prizes across the board, all you have to do is let us know who you think deserves some recognition.

Has your school got an outstanding sports team like the table tennis stars at Redlands? A dedicated lollipop lady? A student who deserves more recognition? Or do you take great pride in being environment-friendly?

Whichever category you fit under, we want to hear from you, so get in touch today! To nominate people for an award simply send us an email to [email protected] or give us a call on 01909 500500.
