Sheffield based financial advisors The Burley Group, through the Aviva Broker Community Fund, nominated Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice for the grant after supporting the hospice for the last few years with many fundraising initiatives.

The Aviva Broker Community Fund, which provided grants of up to £10,000 for charitable projects that support health and disability issues for children, shortlisted Bluebell Wood from over 200 applicants.

The fund is an opportunity for all brokers to raise money for their chosen local cause.

The £2,000 grant will help towards the cost of a Flexmort Cooling System, which can be used to turn any bed into a refrigerated bed once a child has passed away. This allows children to stay in the comfort of their own home without the family having to go through the distress of immediately transferring their loved one to a mortuary.

Rachael Dawes, corporate fundraiser at Bluebell Wood said “We are delighted to receive this grant and we can’t thank The Burley Group enough for their nomination.” “As it costs £3 million a year to run the hospice, the grant will help significantly towards buying the Flexmort Cooling System.”

“Many families wish to spend time with their loved ones either at home or in the hospice, rather than at a funeral home, so this will mean a lot to them.”
