North Anston: Footballers visit children’s hospice

Children, staff and volunteers at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice were given a fabulous treat prior to Christmas when players from Doncaster Rovers Football Club called in for a festive visit.

The players spent the afternoon visiting and chatting to the children and parents, handing out presents and posing for photographs. They even had a little kick around with a football that one of the children had brought in.

Shaun Lockwood, communications manager at Doncaster Rovers FC said: “We’ve a great relationship with Bluebell Wood, and we’re keen to support our charity partner as much as possible. The hospice do such a great job and the players were keen to visit them and show their support and hand out some gifts to the children.”

Rachael Dawes, corporate undraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice said: “It was fantastic to have the players come to the hospice and spend time with our families and children, who all had such a great time.”
