North Lincolnshire ENT inpatient surgery report

A report presenting the outcomes of the recent public consultation on the future of Hyper-Acute Stroke services and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) inpatient surgery in Northern Lincolnshire has been published today.

The report, compiled on behalf of North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group and North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) explains the approach taken in order to hear the views of local people towards their plans for both Hyper-Acute Stroke services and ENT inpatient surgery. It also highlights the main themes emerging that both CCGs will now consider when making a final decision on their proposals.

The CCGs’ review of Hyper-Acute Stroke Services and ENT inpatient surgery presented the public with a number of proposals and a preferred option for each service. The aim is to improve patient safety and enhance the quality of care and facilities for local residents.

Over 1,000 people have actively taken part in the consultation opportunities through a range of methods including a survey, public meetings, roadshows, GP drop-ins and Facebook. The findings demonstrate broad support for the review and the need to improve safety, quality and care. However concerns were raised over additional travel time that would be incurred if the preferred proposals were adopted but the establishment of a transport group to look at this was welcomed.

Dr Peter Melton (pictured), Clinical Chief Officer, North East Lincolnshire CCG said: “This consultation has enabled us to hear first-hand the views of local people which we will now use to help make our decision on the proposals for Hyper-Acute Stroke services and Ear, Nose and Throat inpatient surgery. We are really pleased with the level of engagement we have achieved and would like to thank everyone who got involved to give us their thoughts and opinions. These views will help to guarantee that our final decision on both services meets the needs of all our local residents.”

Dr Margaret Sanderson, Chair, North Lincolnshire CCG said: “I would also like to thank the people of Northern Lincolnshire who took time to let us know their views on our proposals. I can assure everyone that these will be taken into consideration when we make our final decision.

“On Thursday November 13 North Lincolnshire CCG will be holding their Governing Body meeting concurrently with North East Lincolnshire CCG holding their Partnership Board meeting, where we will discuss the consultation report and come to a final decision on our proposals for Hyper-Acute Stroke services and Ear, Nose and Throat inpatient surgery. I would like to invite members of the public to come along to these meetings, listen to the discussions, hear the final decision and raise any questions with the CCGs.”

Governing body meetings will be held by each CCG respectively on Thursday November 13 at 2pm. North Lincolnshire will take place at Health Place Brigg in the Board Room. North East Lincolnshire will be held at the Social Enterprise Centre, 84 Wellington Street, Grimsby.
