Nottinghamshire Police officer to attend gross misconduct hearing

A Nottinghamshire Police officer accused of gross misconduct is set to appear at a hearing held at force headquarters.

The hearing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 2 2016 and is expected to last for two days.

The officer will answer allegations of gross misconduct relating to:

Breaching standards of professional behaviour in respect of a personal relationship formed with another person which could have potentially compromised a major crime investigation.

Failure to report an association as required by the force’s Notifiable Association Policy

Failure to report circumstances which may be relevant to the potential compromise or integrity of the investigation.

Failure to notify the senior investigating officer (SIO) of a relationship which amounted to a personal and professional conflict of interest.

Sending of offensive text messages to another person which also disclosed confidential information about the investigation.

Searching and accessing confidential information on Nottinghamshire Police Force systems over an extended period of time without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, and otherwise than for a policing purpose.

The misconduct is alleged to have happened between 2009 and December 2014.

The independent panel chair has determined that proceedings will be heard in public.
