As part of its 20th birthday celebrations, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People has launched the Rainbows Great Birthday Bake.

The hospice, which cares for children and young people with terminal and life-limiting illnesses including those from Nottinghamshire, needs budding chefs or enthusiastic sweet tooths to hold baking fundraising events.

Caroline Rossin, Rainbows community fundraiser in Nottinghamshire, said: “This year we are celebrating our 20th birthday so what better way to join in with our party than to bake a cake. Your event can be as little or large as you like, the only limit is your imagination. If you want to do something more unusual, you could organise a bucket collection dressed in caked-themed costumes, have a cake icing competition or stage a good old cake fight.

“Over the last 20 years, we’ve helped thousands of terminally ill and life-limited children, young people and their families, through the toughest days of their lives. Right now, we’re caring for 288 children and young people – that’s more than ever before. So whether you’re a cake baker, or just an eager cake eater, do your bit and help us to bake a difference.”
