Notts: Charcon Construction Solutions secure lucrative London Formula E race contract

Charcon Construction Solutions, which has an office on Chainbridge Lane, Lound, Retford, won the race to manufacture and deliver 2,000 concrete safety barriers for the event, which will take place on 27th June in Battersea Park.

The project equates to 6,600 tonnes of concrete which will keep the drivers and crowds safe and secure throughout the day.

Shaun Brown, general manager of Charcon Construction Solutions, said: “During the bidding process the client actually spoke to our employees asking if they believed they could deliver on time for the race, which has very tight time scales, and the attitude of our people won us the order.”

Charcon Construction Solutions is a North Notts Envoy, which is the ambassador programme whereby local businesses unite to promote the area to encourage more people to work, live and visit.

Formula E is a new FIA single-seater championship and the world’s first fully-electric racing series.

Mr Brown, who is also a member of the North Notts Place Board, added: “This is great news for us as a company but also fantastic news for north Nottinghamshire as it shows the level of commitment of the local workforce and the faith that major contractors have in them so it’s a major win for the local economy.”
