NOTTS COUNTY COUNCIL 2013 ELECTIONS: Labour regain control at County Hall

The party has gained a total of 18 seats across the county, including two seats in Bassetlaw, and now hold 34 seats in total.

It has been a tough blow for the Conservatives who lost 14 seats which means they now hold 21 of the 67 seats available.

The Liberal Democrats now have eight seats on the council after losing one, while UKIP have not gained any seats among voters - despite winning a significant share of the votes in Bassetlaw.

Speaking earlier at North Notts Arena of Labour’s win in Bassetlaw, the now leader Coun Alan Rhodes said: “This is a terrific gain for the Bassetlaw Labour Party and we are extremely grateful to those who have put their trust in us to represent the community.”

“Four years ago I gained a majority of 75 votes in Worksop North East and Carlton compared to 1,082 this year, which shows four years of hard work to regain the trust of the people who believe Labour is the best party to represent them.”
