Coun Cutts said that Labour were using their Fair Deal campaign to mask their previous financial failings.

“Local authorities across the country must save many millions of pounds as a consequence of the previous Government’s economic failure,” she said.

“Labour councillors are hiding from this inconvenient truth behind their so-called Fair Deal campaign.”

“Government figures on Revenue Support Grant and Baseline Funding Level show that Notts received £238 million this year, which is above the middle of the pack.”

“The truth is that Labour councillors employ the Fair Deal excuse whenever they expect a public backlash against their decisions.”

“They used the same excuse 10 years ago when they had the nerve to increase Council Tax by a staggering 9.5 per cent.”

“They ask the public to ‘think the unthinkable’ but are unwilling to do so themselves.”

“If Coun Alan Rhodes and his colleagues get their way then, sadly, it is true that Notts taxpayers will not be getting a Fair Deal next year.”
