A walk-out is set to take place on Saturday 21st June between 10am and 5pm.

This follows a 24-hour strike from 9am on Thursday 12th June.

It is a result of a long running row between the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) and the Government over pension arrangements.

Chief fire officer, John Buckley, said: “The service will respond to incidents with trained firefighters, using recognised fire and rescue equipment but with the level of operational cover significantly lower than usaul, it may take longer for crews to get there.”

“I would therefore urge people to take extra care, either while at home, at work, or when out and about and visiting friends.”

“Normally we would prefer to prevent incidents from occuring whenever possible, but if they do, we will respond.”

FBU members at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue are also walking out in protest.

The service is once again urging members of the public to not make unnesscary 999 calls.

Assistant fire officer, Gavin Tomlinson, said: “We will still be responding to 999 calls but at a reduced level.”

“Fire can start from a variety of reasons, from cooking being left unattended to electrical faults.”

“If you do have a fire, do not try and tackle it yourself, get out, stay out and call 999, we will respond.”
