Notts: Healthwatch aiming to provide residents with a voice on health and social care

An independent organisation that aims to ‘give a voice’ to health care users across the county launched in Worksop earlier this month.

Healthwatch Notts , a company dedicated to gathering views on health and social care from the public, launched at Bassetlaw Mind in a special cermony in Worksop on Tuesday 2nd September.

The company asks people who use services in Notts about their needs and experiences, uses the information to make recommendations to local providers and commissioners and speaks to the public about proposed changes to services.

Residents can contact Healthwatch Notts by phone, talk to someone at a ‘Have Your Say Point” or complete a form online.

Deborah Morton, volunteer co-ordinator at the company, said: “This is a great opportunity for people in the county to come forward and have their say on health and social care in Notts.”

“We’ve already had a positive response from residents and that’s something to build on for the future as we work towards really making ourselves known throughout the community.”

“We’re really hoping Notts residents will come forward and share their views and experiences with us, as they are experts on health and social care in their locality.”

“The Bassetlaw Mind ‘Have Your Say’ point is open Tuesdays between 12 noon and 2.30pm and Thursdays 10am-12.30pm. Anyone can drop in to tell us about their experiences, good or bad.”

“We have worked very closely with Brian Clarke at Mind to get this up and running and it is great to be working in partnership with local organisations in this way”.
