The Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Lord-Lieutenants of Derbyshire and Notts to create a ‘buddy’ scheme to encourage applications for Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.

The Queen’s Awards are seen as the highest accolade a business can earn and are internationally recognised, but have seen limited success across Notts and Derbyshire in the past two years.

They are bestowed each year by Her Majesty in recognition of outstanding achievement for innovation, international trade or sustainable development.

Companies can self-nominate but must complete a form downloaded from the internet at www.queensawards.bis.gov.uk and provide evidence of their success.

Sir John Peace, Lord-Lieutenant of Notts said: “I know that the work involved in applying for such recognition might dissuade some very worthy firms from doing so.”

“I hope the new ‘buddy’ scheme will remove any uncertainty by letting anyone with doubts hear from successful applicants on both how to apply and the wide benefits of the award.”

To find an Awards buddy or to become one, contact the Chamber of Commerce on 01246 207207 and ask for Queen’s Award buddies.

Alternatively, contact the Lord-Lieutenants offices on 01629 761126 for Derbyshire or 07921 089792 for Notts.
