People have until Monday 23rd September to apply and the force is hoping to receive applications from under-represented groups.

They want to recruit 64 new PCSOs before March 2014.

A recruitment drive earlier this year found 12 new recruits who have already started training.

A further 15 due to begin in November.

PCSOs are paid members of the police who complement and support regular police officers, providing a visible and accessible uniformed

presence to improve the quality of life in communities and offer greater public reassurance.

And while PCSOs may not have the same powers as police officers, they can have a significant impact on the quality of life of local residents and are a critical part of the work of the force.

Potential applicants are advised to read an information sheet designed to help to answer eligibility questions, before downloading an application pack.
