Notts Police to send 250 officers to Olympics

AS OLYMPIC fever starts to sweep the nation, Notts Police have announced that they’ll be sending over 150 to the games in London this summer.

Over the course of 58 days, the force say that their contribution will vary each day.

At their peak, the maximum number of Notts officers serving on the games will be 114, while their lowest commitment will be as few as four officers.

ACC Paul Broadbent said: “The force is proud to support its colleagues in the Metropolitan Police and other host forces to ensure this is a memorable and safe experience for everyone.”

“We have been planning for this commitment for more than two years and have contingency plans in place to ensure that the public of Notts are not adversely affected by it.”

He continued: “That includes restricting leave for staff and officers in the weeks preceding and during the Games.”

ACC Broadbent added: “We have also cancelled all training courses during the Olympic period and plan to make use of our special constabulary, who have many of the same powers as regular officers, to ensure that we maintain the level of service the public expect of us.”
