Jobless Harold Mosley, who has been living in a flat in Sutton, was later found to be living in a caravan but had failed to give police details of his new address, breaking the rules of the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Mosley had been ordered to sign the register last year after being caught with indecent images of children, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

Under the terms of the legislation, he was allowed to move home but had to tell police where he had gone, said Miss Almas Ben-Aribia, prosecuting.

Recorder Jason MacAdam said: “He had gone underground and failing to notify meant a breach of the requirements.”

But he said Mosley, 56, had carried out much of the “educational part of the order,” taking part in a programme which underlines the damage caused by child pornography.

Miss Ben-Aribia said Mosley told police his address was in Outram Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield and that turned out to be a room above a takeaway cafe. Officers visited and he was living there.

But in August they found he had gone and the landlord said he had not received any rent. Mosley failed to provide a forwarding address and did not give his new whereabouts to police.

Officers later got a tip-off and found that he had been living alone on a caravan park. He pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Chris Hogg, mitigating, said: “He was very frank in the interview and said he left three months prior to the police catching him.

“He moved from the flat because it was infested with cockroaches and went straight to the caravan park. He was never of no fixed abode.”

The recorder told Mosley: “You have to comply with the notification requirements. I know a lot of people in your position don’t want to but that’s regardless.”
