Notts: Two awards for Rufford Abbey Country Park

Known for its best-preserved remains of a Cistercian abbey west cloister range in England, Rufford Abbey Country Park has received two awards following excellent reviews from its visitors.

The historic 150-acre parkland, located in northern Notts, has a variety of attractions including the ruins of a medieval monastery, a contemporary craft centre, gardens, woodland walks, children’s play village, sculpture trail, as well as a lake.

And following great feedback, Rufford Abbey has been awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, which honours dedication to hospitality, whilst the park was also named as the runner-up in the Netmums Outdoor Play Awards.

Linda Hardy, visitor services manager for country parks at Notts County Council, said: “Web forums such as Netmums and TripAdvisor give people the opportunity to post up their own personal and candid views about their experiences when they visit a tourist attraction.”

“We are very pleased to hear that we have received these awards from these organisations as it reflects that people are enjoying their visits to Rufford.”

More than 1.7 million mums, dads and child carers who are registered Netmums members were eligible to cast their votes in the search to find the UKs best-loved outdoor attractions.

Netmums.com local editor, Sharon McKee, said: “We are so lucky to have lots of fantastic outdoor venues to choose from, but mums and dads rated Rufford Abbey as somewhere extra special.”
