Notts: Youth talent on display at shows across county

Youth talent in Nottinghamshire will be on show with a wealth of performing art shows this month.

Nottinghamshire County Council’s Nottinghamshire Performing Arts Team has announced its Spring Term of events for the next few weeks.

The key dates and venues are:

• Sunday, March 23 – Soul ‘n’ Sun, Red Hot Band and Steel Band, Lakeside Arts Theatre, Nottingham

• Tuesday, March 25 and Wednesday, March 26 – Arabian Nights, Black Box Theatre Company, Lakeside Arts Theatre, Nottingham

• Friday, March 28 – Hallelujah, Advanced Music Ensemble and Choir, the John Fretwell Centre, Mansfield

• Saturday, March 29 – Majestic in March, NPA Concert Band with Nottingham Symphonic Wind Orchestra, the John Fretwell Centre, Mansfield.

Nottinghamshire County Council’s Notts Performing Arts team is led by Tracy James and offers exciting and high quality arts opportunities for young people aged 7-19 years old who want to develop their skills in performing arts. Students take part in a choice of music, drama and dance workshops and rehearsal and a variety of performance opportunities.

Students have the opportunity to work with exceptional teaching staff and world class professional artists and musicians and if successful in auditions can gain a place at one of Nottinghamshire Performing Arts companies.

Councillor Liz Plant, Committee Vice-Chairman for Children and Young People’s Services at Nottinghamshire County Council said: “This is a tremendous showcase of creative talent throughout the spring term. “There are a wide range of activities and performances and we hope there will be something for everyone to enjoy which promotes the excellence of Nottinghamshire Performing Arts.”
