Oasis: We want your votes!

OASIS Community Centre and Gardens in Worksop has won a place in the semi-finals of The National Lottery Awards.

The awards recognise the positive impact that Lottery-funded projects big and small make to local communities.

The Oasis Community Centre and Gardens is one of only 10 projects to make it through in the Best Environment Project category.

It transformed a derelict local youth club into a multi-purpose community centre and an abandoned field into a community gardens and activity park.

Steve Williams, Oasis project manager, said: “We dared to dream a huge dream to create a beautiful place in the heart of a disadvantaged community, where people could come together, work and learn to make a difference to their world. We are so excited to be in the semi finals of the National Lottery Awards.”

“The financial help we received has made a huge difference to our project and is giving the people of our community a place to belong and new possibilities.

“We’re hoping people show their support by voting for us.”

People in Worksop are being urged to help the centre make it through to the final which will be broadcast live on BBC One later this year.
