Olympics 2012: Worksop readers share their experiences

THE Chambers family from Worksop enjoyed double Olympic fun as they headed to the capital to watch the Games.

On 7th August they watched Jamaica’s Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake perform for their place in the 200m final, as well as Brit Phillips Idowu compete in the men’s qualifying triple jump.

The family again headed for the Olympic Stadium two days later where they saw the decathalon competitors compete in discus, pole vault and javelin.

They also watched Team GB compete in the men’s qualifying 4 x 400 relay in which Britain qualified in second place.

Mr Chambers said they felt privileged to have the chance to watch the Olympics in action.

“It was definitely once in a lifetime and our family will remember every moment for the rest of our lives,” he said.

“There was a really exciting atmosphere in the Olympic Park – something we had never experienced before.”

“We were amazed by the size of the stadium – the Olympic Torch looked very small.”
