On your marks...

Over 300 people got under starters orders in Gainsborough last weekend for a 5k race around the town.

The race was the second in a series of three running events organised by West Lindsey District Council and TSS Events.

The West Lindsey Running Series kicked off with a 5k run in Saxilby on 25th September and will finish in Market Rasen on Remembrance Sunday when runners will take on a 10km course. And the series has proved to be such a success that the council hopes it will take place again next year.

A spokesman for West Lindsey District Council said: “We had just over 300 people take part in the Gainsborough run, which is really great.”

“It is totally funded by sponsorship and run by volunteer so doesn’t cost the tax payer anything.”

“This is the first time we’ve done this and with the amount of people who have taken part we are hoping to put it on next year as well.”

There is still time to sign up for the 10k run in Market Rasen on Sunday 13th November. To find out more, or to sign up online visit www.westlindseyrunseries.co.uk before 11th November.
