The Horseshoe Inn, on Kilton Road, has been closed for a number of years and has since become a hotspot for antisocial behaviour- with litter strewn outside the building and reports of vandals attempting to break their way in.

Plans to demolish the Horseshoe and build 16 new homes on the site were announced last year, but these were “disposed of” by Bassetlaw District Council due to lack of information from the developer.

Deborah Smith, who ,ives on the road, told the Guardian: “The site looks an absolute eyesore and really shows up the area.

Work started to turn the pub into houses, but this soon came to a halt.

“It looks like vandals have been in it and are ripping it to shreds.”

Concerns over fire safety at the site have also been raised after firefighters were called to a blaze there recently.

Beverley Alderton-Sambrook, head of regeneration at Bassetlaw District Council, said Athe council was “not taking enforcement action” against the land owner.
