Ms Killelay said: “Jeremy is a very popular singer among our residents.

“They all love him so we always invite him back. He sings songs from several different eras.

“They loved the visit from the firemen. They came in and went around the dining room chatting to all the residents. It was lovely.”

She said: “We have an enclosed area at the back we are working on and we are looking at officially opening that at the end of July when it’s finished.

“It’s a summer house and we are just putting in the last plants and getting the area ready with the final finishing touches. We just need to book somebody to come and open it for us.

“We also have an autumn fair planned for September, so it’s all go here.”

Care homes across the country are invited to host open days each year to mark national care home open day.
