Keep your kids safe

Along with our policing activities, we would like to thank residents for their diligence in securing their property from potential thieves.

Security lights in your gardens, good locks on your sheds and garages, and chaining up and registering your property goes a long way in deterring and ultimately preventing crime.

Fewer victims means happier residents and happier police officers.

Following partnership work with the district council’s Antisocial Behaviour Team, a troublesome 17-year-old local girl has been issued with an anti-social behaviour order. 
Under the ASBO she must not enter a designated area of North West Worksop, unless travelling through on public transport. She is also restricted from being in a group of three or more people (unless authorised adults stated in the order) in a public place in the entire Worksop area, or from contacting a number of named individuals.

This is great result. ASBOs are an effective way of monitoring previously problematic individuals and assisting them in their rehabilitation, as well as reassuring and protecting the community against continued nuisance behaviour.

Elsewhere on our patch and to reiterate Inspector Cartwright’s message from the other week, we’ve recently received reports of children jumping into the canal in Shireoaks.

We are liaising with the local schools on this subject in a bid to relay the water safety message to kids and there are plans to run a specific lesson on the subject in conjunction with the Fire Service.

Parents can help too. Know where your children are ‘playing out’ this summer, for their own safety and for your own piece of mind.
