Prepared for more snow?

Lessons to be learned was the headline that shouted out to you on the front page of the action packed Dinno Guardian the other week.

It is now a year and one day since we were completely covered in snow and cut off from the outside world for what seemed an eternity.

The Willie ran out of beer, fights broke out in the shops over thick sliced bread and the benefit brigade struggled to sign on as Church Lane became impassable.

Life became tougher as each day passed, and when the bingo night at the Silverdale’s Club was cancelled it finally dawned on us that this was a serious situation us Dinno natives had found ourselves in.

Now the emergency services have admitted they have learned from last year’s events and precautions have been put in place to avoid a repeat this year but has the Dinno public?

I took to our Golden Half Mile shopping centre on Laughton Road to ask a few of you what precautions you have taken, should we get a repeat of last year.

Hardy Harold struggled to get to the Old Village Club last year but has now stocked up with several cans of John Smiths smooth that should see him OK for at least 10 days he reckons.

Budgie B has put his lottery numbers on for the next eight weeks, which he has been told by a clairvoyant will win him big money before Christmas. The numbers by the way are 2, 8, 12, 17, 38, and 41.

As ever I hope the true village spirit we were all born with will see us through whatever is thrown at us and we can face it with a smile.

Deadly Doug from Pushing up Daisies Funeral Directors was looking a bit glum the other day.

He had just been to the doctors to complain that he felt like a pack of playing cards. The doctor said he would deal with him later.
