Social aspect of group is important

Gainsborough Heart Support Group was set up last year by Ian Davidson and Julie Lax in response to comments by patients at the Trentside cardiac rehab unit.

Julie said: “People said they really missed going there every week and getting the support of the nurses.”

“They enjoyed the social aspect of it, as much as getting the advice and treatment, so we decided to set up the group to continue that support.”

They meet on the second Wednesday of every month at the scout hut on Love Lane, from 7-9pm.

Ian said: “It’s the camaraderie of the thing and getting out, which is important, especially for people who live on their own.”

Membership is open to anyone in Gainsborough and surrounding villages with a heart problem.

The group is affiliated to the British Heart Foundation and is sponsoring a Lincoln doctor who is running the London Marathon this year for the charity.
