Staying safe as summer arrives

Drug dealers, however, may not be so pleased to see them - in May we ran a successful operation with our police dogs, in conjunction with the town centre pubs, and a number of people have been prosecuted for drugs offences as a result. It will be one of many similar operations.

On the subject of licensed premises, we recently objected to an application to open a nightclub in Worksop. It was subsequently rejected. While we are keen to see business flourish in our town, Worksop is not the place for a nightclub. We already have a late bar and a number of pubs which adequately serve the needs of our town.

Now that summer is here and Mother Nature gives us some warmer weather, we expect to see a rise in the number of visitors to The Canch. Please keep an eye on your children and don’t let them spoil these facilities for others.

On those summer days please don’t be tempted by the waterways. They may seem refreshing but it’s often colder than it seems and can hide strong currents and obstacles.

PC Christian Hurley took a late night swim last Saturday. He was forced to dive in after a man had fallen into the canal. Although PC Hurley had to say goodbye to his boots and uniform, his quick thinking meant the man was pulled to safety.
