Talking Transport: More trains for Gainsborough?

This train would be in addition to the three Northern Rail trains that run along this route on Saturdays calling at Gainsborough Central. For some unexplained reason the Trans Pennie Express train will stop at Retford but not Gainsborough. GRaB has asked Trans Pennine Express to explain why the train will not stop at Gainsborough Central, but at the time of gong to press we have had no reply. Martin Vickers, MP for Cleethorpes has been pressing for trains to run via the Brigg line during the summer as Cleethorpes has seen no trains from Manchester and Sheffield since the Hatfield colliery tip dislodged the railway tracks. We hope that fellow MPs Andrew Percy and Edward Leigh will join Martin Vickers in pressing for more trains along the Brigg Line this summer, as we suspect one train a week is not sufficient for visitors to Cleethorpes and that they will endeavour to ensure trains stop at Gainsborough Central and Brigg and not rush through these stations only to stop at signals further along waiting to travel onto the single line sections. Hopefully we shall have more news in time for our Annual General Meeting.

The GRaB AGM will take place on Saturday 18th May at 10.30am in the Trinity Arts Centre, Gainsborough. Everyone who live, work or study in the GraB area ( bounded by Misterton, Sturton le Steeple, Marton, Sturton by Stow, Scampton, Hemswell Cliff, Kirton Lindsey and Scotter) are cordially invited to attend. GraB did invite a representative of Lincolnshire County Council along to explain their new ten year Transport Plan but nobody is available. Section 9 of the plan relates to Gainsborough but it is written in local government jargon. We will ask the County Council to produce a plain English summary.
