Team made it to summit

During the snow storms and floods that battered our village in recent years the team has always been on hand to help.

Whether that is some poor folk stuck on Mount Dinno Pit tip or helping someone back home to the High Nookie estate after a night in the Silverdale’s Club, they have always been willing to risk their lives to help others.

Raising thousands along the way the 22-strong team had to endure sleepless nights, freezing temperatures and long days of climbing. Roaming Ralph said it was more painful than childbirth while Jane Havo said the path seemed to be uphill all the way to the top.

You have to take your hat off to these brave souls and I am sure you will all join me in saying well done team, you did Dinno proud.

I had a photo job for the Worksop Guardian last week and it was with Bobby Ball from the Cannon and Ball comedy duo. He was in Langold doing a spot at the Now Life Church.

He told me he had driven from Lytham St Anne’s and had put the Langold postcode in his satnav. When he arrived in the village he told me his satnav said: “You have reached your destination but I suggest you carry on driving.”

There was a bit of a whiff around Dinno last week that had many natives closing their windows. It was the farmers doing some muck spreading.

This brought back memories of the good old maggot farm on Swinny Hill which could clear the nostrils like nothing else. Those were the good old days and last week gave us born n bred Dinno folk a nice little nostalgia trip.
