Buses not just our problem!

Whilst the delays in constructing a new bus station for Worksop rumbles on, Retford, Mansfield and Newark passengers all enjoy a pleasant experience both on arrival and whilst waiting for buses at their modern roomy and well-lit bus stations.

Mind you, it’s not just Worksop that has major problems regarding bus stops and proper efficient waiting areas out of the elements especially in winter time.

Recently I visited Bakewell and for a ‘jewel in the crown’ tourist attraction their excuse for a bus station is a total disgrace (there isn’t one!)

Passengers, many pensioners and disabled are forced to wait for buses on the busy pavements that are already congested with both local residents and tourists alike.

Surely in the 21st Century historic towns such as Worksop and Bakewell should treat the public an a courteous way or is that asking too much?

My main argument is safety, but in the case of Derbyshire County Council, the evidence is all around the north and eastern part of their country. They don’t carry out their basic duties!
