Dangerous cutbacks
When the mental health day-unit was closed, a short sighted and expensive decision (more admissions to the wards) in the long run, we were advised to encourage and in fact referred many of our clients to the services in the community Framework, The Boundary Day Services (now combined in The Hub)to name a few, now these are to be further reduced, how and where are these vulnerable people going to find the support and assistance they need? It makes me wonder about the original motives in setting some of these services up in the first place an excuse to close the mental health day centres across the country.
I know that Mind and Hope work hard but that is not enough.
No more cut backs the consequences will be expensive and in some cases tragic!
