Nostalgia - It was Harold who lost battle

I hope you have had lots of comments on your King Harold item (Looking back, January 6).

Was it just to see if anyone reads that section of your paper?

You will know by now that it was William II, better known as William the Conqueror, or William Rufus, who was crowned on Christmas Day, 1066.

Poor Harold was indeed hit in the eye with an arrow, which proved fatal.

He had rushed down from Stamford Bridge (not the football ground) to fight William in Sussex and lost the battle.

I, for one, will make sure I read this section of your paper every week.
