Readers Letter: Company are treating public unfairly

I cannot actually believe that the plant is saying it is not an operational issue. Surely matters regarding security, fire alarms, intruder alarms, sprinklers, etc are operational issues. Just saying the building was not in use doesn’t abdicate the company of responsibility for the building.

I don’t know what the company has in place in terms of security but clearly the current set up is ineffective at stopping the arsonists (if it was indeed arson).

After last summer’s four weeks of disastrous polluting fumes, one would have thought that a ‘must ensure this doesn’t happen again’ attitude would have guided the company on any security review. 24 hour patrolling would have been the top of my list.

There doesn’t seem to be have been an apology made but we are told the company believes they are being treated unfairly with calls for it’s closure by John Mann. The residents of Worksop are the one’s being treated unfairly! It was unfair last summer, (the best summer for years) to us when we couldn’t hang washing out, have windows or doors open and stifled in very hot houses because of it. It was also unfair then to those residents with serious health problems who couldn’t go out in the local area and it is unfair that it has happened again!

How long are we going to have to wait before anything is actually done about it?

I hope that this situation is addressed and not just allowed to continue.
