Thank you from Retford Lions

Retford Lions Club would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ for all the support given through December with the various Christmas activities with which the club was involved.

December has always been the most intense period of work for club members but at the same time, the most rewarding. As one man commented early on

Saturday 21st on Carolgate as he stopped and looked at Santa on his sleigh – ‘Now I know it’s Christmas!’ The tradition of bringing Santa round the Retford community through December has transcended generations and it’s often middle aged parents that get more excited than their children!

The logistics of appearing on the streets night after night can be tough but this year the weather was kind and the public response was great. Approximately £6,000 was received which will help the club’s continued support in the community through 2014.

As usual the club is extremely grateful to a number of individuals, groups and organisations who gave direct help through the period. A particular mention is needed for Retford Honda who were instrumental in the success of Santa’s travels.

Most of all the club wishes to thank all those who came to see Santa with such generous spirit. The Club hopes that it helped many to enjoy the festive season.
