‘Opportunist’ thief posts contents of stolen Louis Vuitton wallet back to victim

An ‘opportunist’ thief who stole a Louis Vuitton wallet from a couple shopping in a Worksop supermarket posted some of the contents back to the victim.

Mr and Mrs Lin were shopping at Tesco in the town in the early hours of Friday morning on 27th February.

The couple say a ‘opportunist’ thief took the wallet which was left on the self serve checkouts. It contained a ‘large amount’ of Hong Kong dollars as well as English notes.

The following morning, on Saturday 28th, the contents of the wallet - including cards, driving licence, photos and receipts - were posted back to their address - from a postbox 14 miles away in New Ollerton.

The husband and wife are now appealing for the return of the wallet and cash.

“There was no note inside the envelope to say who had sent it back to him. So we believe someone with half a conscience after taking the money felt bad and returned the cards,” Mrs Lin said.

“We know the envelope was posted from the Post Office in New Ollerton. There is a serial number on the stamp, as someone had to have it weighed for the postage.”

“We are appealing for any help in connection for the return of the wallet, plus someone may remember someone locally trying to exchange some Hong Kong dollars.”
