Robin Massey, 60, of School Lane, Snitterby, was branded dangerous by a judge at Lincoln Crown Court.

He will remain on licence at risk of being returned to prison until 2028 when he will be 75 years old.

He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and banned for life from working with children.

Massey admitted a total of 11 charges of sexual assault involving two girls.

He also admitted two charges of indecent assault, two charges of inciting a child to be involved in sexual activity, three charges of taking an indecent photograph of a child, five charges of making an indecent images of a child and possession of a total of 27,539 indecent images of children.

The offences occurred on dates between January 2004 and September 2012.

The court was told he had a previous conviction in 1990 for indecent assault and taking an indecent photograph of a child.

Catarina Sjolin, prosecuting, said the offences came to light after one of the victims revealed what had happened to her mother and police were contacted.

One of the girls was just four years old when she was abused and the other was six.

Massey was arrested and officers seized his computer. Thousands of pornographic images of children were found on the computer including some images of Massey himself abusing one of his victims.

When Massey was interviewed he claimed he was sorry and ashamed at what he had done.

Miss Sjolin said: “The effect on the girls has been huge. It has been devastating.”

Graham Huston, defending, said: “He knows his behaviour was wrong. He describes himself as somebody who has an overwhelming addiction. He hates himself.”

Judge Sean Morris told him: “You have pleaded guilty to a catalogue of paedophile behaviour against these little girls. I am quite satisfied that you are dangerous.”

“There is a significant risk of serious harm to children from you and the likelihood is that you will commit other similar offences unless you are given a lengthy custodial sentence.”
