Park will be all about apples

Clumber Park’s walled kitchen garden is holding its annual Apple Festival over the weekend of 19th and 20th October.

There will be cookery demonstrations, apple identification, apple tasting and apple juicing, as well as apple-themed games for younger visitors and produce for sale.

The apple crop is one of the best ever and will enable visitors to sample and buy heritage and regional varieties not available in the supermarkets.

Clumber head gardener, Chris Margrave, said: “It is important that the heritage varieties we grow at Clumber are conserved.”

“As well as having qualities making them suited to growing in this area, many bring stories about how communities worked and lived.”

“The best part is they taste good too and on our apple days our visitors can sample them.”

Normal admission prices to the park and walled kitchen garden apply. For more details visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/clumberpark,
