Pat Tarttelin met with the country’ s youngest MP Mhairi Black at a Department of Work and Pensions Select Committee meeting last week.

Mrs Tartellin passed on evidence regarding the recent transitional arrangements for State Pension age changes.

She said ‘It was a very useful meeting.

“Baroness Altmann provided a real insight into Pensions policy.

“We hope to hear more next week from the Secretary of State for the women all over the country, but particularly those in Lincolnshire where some women, and men, have been hit very hard by the lack of notice.”

As revealed in the News last week, Mrs Tarttelin runs a support and campaign group in Lincolnshire as part of the national campaign group WASPI - Women against State Pension age inequality.

The group is particularly concerned that many people were not aware of the changes in Government policy regarding pensions - not least the age at which people become eligible.

She added: ‘There are some really sad stories in Lincolnshire as most women were never written to but understood the change in pension age was much less than it turned out to be.

“Through no fault of their own, they have been left with very little notice of years of income to find before they can draw a pension.”
