Pcso to run half marathon for Boston Women's Aid

PCSO Dave Russell, who turned heads in 2014 when he ran for charity in fancy dress, is donning his running shoes again in support of Boston Women’s Aid (BWA).

Dave is currently training for the Boston half marathon on April 17 to raise the cash.

In 2014, while employed at the White Hart Hotel and volunteering as a Police Special, Dave ran two miles a day in various fancy dress outfits to raise money for the Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund, a charity supporting officers injured in the line of duty.

Speaking about BWA, he said: “When I worked at the White Hart I met two women who had used the service and they told me what a massive difference this had made to their lives. They were so grateful to have a second chance at life. One of the women had a small child at the time and hearing about the horrible things they had to endure before getting some help really upset me. I was so impressed with how the charity had helped change the lives of both those women, and countless others, so I have decided to run for them.”

In addition to the charity run, PCSO Russell has also organised a Domestic Abuse Awareness Day next Wednesday. The mobile police station will be parked in the market place 10.30am-4.30pm and a representative from Boston Women’s Aid will be joining officers.
