10,000ft skydive willaid disabled children

Ayesha Copeland took the plunge with a tandem skydive at Brigg to raise £2,000 for a children’s charity.

The 22-year-old is a support worker for Action For Children’s Disability Lincolnshire service and wanted to raise cash to buy sensory equipment. The service helps disabled youngsters in the county to access community, social and leisure activities.

“It was a really exciting but surreal experience,” said Ayesha. “I have never done a skydive before or even been in a plane so it was a first for me – and really bizarre to see how the earth looks from that high up.”

Ayesha was supported on the day by family and close friends who went along to see her take the plunge.

She added: “I would like to thank all the people of Ruskington who sponsored me – particularly the businesses and local pubs.”

Since October, the plucky charity worker has been hard at work fundraising by hosting coffee mornings, quiz nights and even a toy pig racing event.

Leila Barron from Action for Children said: “We’re all very proud of our daredevil Ayesha. The funds she is raising will help us continue to meet the complex needs of the children and young people we work with in Lincolnshire.”
