All aboard! Skegness Seasiders return for another summer along coast

One of the town’s most popular attractions is getting ready to roll back into action, as the Skegness Seasiders return for the 2026 season.

The colourful fleet of character buses – including favourites Rocky, Sandy, Shelly and Teddy – will be back on the roads from March 28 to November 1, just in time for Easter and the busy summer months.

Operated by Stagecoach East Midlands, the much-loved open-top buses have become a familiar sight along the coast, offering a fun way for both residents and visitors to get around.

This year will see an enhanced service, with buses running every 10 minutes between Skegness, Butlin’s, Fantasy Island and Ingoldmells, making it even easier to hop on and off throughout the day. Services to Chapel St Leonards will run up to every 20 minutes, with evening services also continuing into the night.

There’s more good news for passengers heading further afield, as routes to Mablethorpe will run more frequently, and evening services are making a return. The 2N service will also be back, serving South View Leisure.

The Seasiders aren’t just about getting from A to B – they’re part of the holiday experience. Onboard, passengers can enjoy the return of Seasider Radio, playing classic seaside tunes to get everyone in the summer mood. Younger travellers can also collect character badges, with a prize up for grabs once enough have been gathered.

A Group DayRider ticket, priced at £14, allows up to five people unlimited travel for the day, making it a popular option for families.

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director at Stagecoach East Midlands, said the team is looking forward to welcoming people back on board.

“The Seasiders are a huge part of summer in Skegness, and we know just how much people enjoy them. There’s nothing quite like travelling along the seafront on an open-top bus in the sunshine, and we’re ready for another fantastic season.”

To mark the new season, Skegness Bus Station is also getting a fresh coat of paint, and visitors will be able to pick up a summer guide packed with offers for local attractions.

Fans can also look out for a new Seasider storybook later in the year, raising money for the Roald Dahl Marvellous Children's Charity.
