Marianne Jackson works with Hound from the Pound, a not-for-profit organisation staffed by volunteers which works to rehome dogs in North and South Kesteven from council pounds.

She has appealed for help to trace the man who handed in the brindle male Staffie to Sleaford Vets on Wednesday, March 25.

She said: “The dog was wearing a very thick brown leather collar, is unchipped and was handed in as ‘found locally’. The person who handed the dog in may have been the owner, he left no details but was very upset. He was seen a short time later near the train station.

“We do not know if the owner travelled to Sleaford or if he was a local man. This dog is lovely and missing his owner.”

She appeals to the owner to get in touch on 07742913378, saying: “We can possibly help in many ways to support this dog and the owner particularly during the Covid 19 crisis.

“This dog might be all the owner had and I suspect due to the coronavirus crisis he may have felt he had no choice but to give his pet up.”

They can help with food, treatment or temporary respite kennels for the dog which has been named Lenny.

If no-one comes forward, Lenny will be sent to a rescue centre and re-homed when it is safe.
