Baumber garden remains open

Plans were for the garden’s tea room to be open this Sunday to honour bookings for Mother’s Day, but with the Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday that cafes must close, that can not now happen.
Undeterred, owner Sonia Elton and her dedicated team have decided to keep the garden open and free to visit.

The plant stall, compost sales area and little shop will also remain open.
In a Facebook post, Sonia said: “The ‘bake away’ counter will now be relocated to an outdoor area, serving hot drinks and yummy cake.
“All the outdoor seating is in place and you will be welcome to visit.
“The mood will remain light and relaxed, and as we cannot greet you with a big hug, don’t be surprised if we bow/curtsey or burst into song.”

Visitors to the garden always comment on the friendly atmosphere and it seems spirits are still high.
Sonia had this message: “Don’t let all this get you down; get out, stay strong and be positive.
“In the event that you absolutely can’t get out, give us a call and we will deliver cake and sing down the phone to you!”
