Nigel lost most of his sight in a motorcycle racing accident in 2015 which left him fighting for his life – but this setback has not prevented him from living life to the full, and he is determined to show that people with sight loss can achieve amazing things.

Last year, Nigel became an official ambassador for the Wilberforce Trust, a charity offering support for people living with visual impairment, loss of sight, hearing impairment, hearing loss, or other disabilities.

Nigel’s latest challenge will see him take on the ‘dragster challenge’ to raise money for the Wilberforce Trust’s bid for a new mobile unit, so they can take their rehab and support services out to the less well-served areas of our region.

On Sunday (September 6), at the Melbourne Raceway near York, Nigel will ride the Suzuki EFE 1229cc dragster bike, hand-built by Jim King and owned by Stephen Sharpe who is terminally ill. Stephen has asked Nigel to ride his bike in this challenge so that he can have the pleasure of allowing his ‘pride and joy’ to be ridden by such an inspirational bike rider.

A Wilberforce Trust spokesman said: “Would you dare ride a dragster motorbike at 100mph? Would you still dare to if you were blind? Nigel Limb will be doing just that.

“Nigel will crank this beauty up to its top speed over a 220 yard strip. With little sight to guide him,
“Nigel will rely on his instincts and experience to bring this to a safe conclusion.”
