The new bowser, which has been gifted to the town, will make the watering of the town’s hanging baskets much easier.

Volunteer Peter Harrold got straight to testing the bowser out and gave it a thumbs up.

The hanging baskets were organised by Mr Harrold and are part of the project to make the town’s main shopping area more attractive for both residents and visitors.

Coun Stephen Bunney, who heads up the town partnership group, as well as serving on both the town and district councils, said the baskets had been well received.

He continued: “There have been lots of lovely comments and thanks go to Peter for his work on this project.

“We also thank the local businesses who are playing their part in caring for the baskets.

“We hope the baskets will be just the start for making the town bloom.”

It is hoped the baskets can stay in place and, perhaps, be planting up again for winter.

Coun Bunney said: “We would like to hear what people think about, say, planting the baskets with winter pansies.

“This would add a bit extra to the town, as well as the Christmas trees.”
