CallConnect bus continues to run with all essential journeys now free

The on-demand, bookable bus service will be operating for passengers needing to make essential journeys during this difficult period.

Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for transport, said: “We’ve scrapped charges on CallConnect as a ‘thank you’ for our key workers and those who still have to go to work during the coronavirus outbreak. This also protects our staff from having to handle cash.

“In line with the government’s advice, people should only be travelling when it is essential.”

The Lincoln-area timetabled services – the 100L and 100S – will now provide direct journeys into the city centre without the need to make a connection.

The 19A shuttle service from Skellingthorpe to Saxilby Glebe Park doctors’ surgery, and the 48 service which runs between Wittering and Peterborough are operating as normal.

Other fixed services have been suspended, but passengers needing to make these journeys can still book through the on-demand service.

Passengers considering using the CallConnect service at this time are asked to follow the Government’s guidelines which include guidance on social distancing and only making essential journeys.

Coun Davies added, “If you can, please stay at home, protect the NHS and help save lives.”
