Chambers Farm Wood car park currently closed

The car park at Chambers Farm Wood, near Wragby, has closed due to ‘higher than normal visitor numbers’ and a recent incident where a parked car blocked an access point.

A spokeswoman from Forestry England said: “I am getting in touch to let you know that Chambers Farm Wood car park is currently closed.

“We have been receiving higher than normal visitor numbers so I think local people might be unhappy about the situation so I wanted to give you the ‘heads up’ before the weekend.

“We are currently carrying out forest operations at the site – with a contractor on site harvesting much needed timber for UK industry.

“We had planned on keeping the car park open throughout this process, and just close off the areas of the woodland where the operations were taking place.

“However the number of cars in the car park, including people who had parked in front of gates and moved cones to park their vehicles, means that the forestry vehicles were unable to access the site.

“Even more worryingly, earlier in the week we also had a situation where there was an emergency and a Forestry England member of staff needed to get out of the woods to hospital, and a car was parked in the gateway blocking them in.

“So despite trying to manage the parking situation with signage and cones, we have had no choice but to close the car park to visitors.

“Visitors are still able to access the woodlands if they can get there on foot, however we urge them to follow all safety signage.”
