Annabelle Stemp and Michelle Edmunds run a number of Slimming World classes in the Market Rasen area and now they have set up virtual sessions to continue supporting members - and to welcome new members.

Annabelle said: “The emphasis is on building and staying in control of healthy new lifestyle habits, when it might not be as easy as it is under normal circumstances.

“Members can still access that gorgeous weekly support, but now from the comfort of their own home.

“The new package uses video conferencing, and among other things we’re supporting members to make healthier food choices, find new ways to stay active indoors and keep motivation high in these challenging times.”

For extra help during the current situation, the membership fee has been reduced to £2.50 per week for all members.

Annabelle added: “Slimming World is also offering NHS workers free membership of a virtual group as recognition of the sacrifices they’re making for the health of our nation.”

Michelle is running her groups on Tuesday evenings, plus Wednesday and Thursday mornings, with Annabelle’s group on Saturday mornings.

Annabelle said: “You can still eat healthily in lockdown.

“There are lots of store cupboard staples that are ‘Free Foods’, and we have hundreds of recipes that are low-cost and use few ingredients too.

“Consultant and group support are key, that’s why we’ve worked so hard to develop the virtual groups.

“The virtual groups are at the same time and day, with the same consultant and meeting the same fellow members as our usual groups.

“It’s a real feeling of community in group and great fun - and virtual groups still capture the magic.

“Body Magic is still possible while staying at home too.

“Walking, home workouts, washing the car, cleaning, hoovering... anything that raises your heart rate a little counts.

“In virtual groups members are sharing their own strategies for staying on track, as well as working together to overcome common challenges we’re all facing while in lockdown.”
