The 16 and 17-year-olds from Sleaford and district are currently taking part in the National Citizen Service scheme and have already spent a week learning employability skills with local businesses at Nottingham University and life skills through a week’s outdoor adventure stay at PGL at Caythorpe.

They are now planning fundraising activities to demonstrate their contribution to the community and have chosen to support Cancer Research UK.

Group mentor Emily Webb said: “It is a worthy cause that is close to most people’s hearts as it affects so many.”

To kick things off they will be washing cars for donations tomorrow (Thursday, July 14) in Eastgate car park from 8am to 4pm.

On Monday they plan to run a cake stall on Sleaford market and will be bag packing for shoppers’ donations in Tesco and Iceland on Tuesday.

Then on Wednesday they will embark on their own 10-hour ‘triathlon’ for sponsorship cash from 8am until 6pm.

This will begin with a walk in the morning, followed by a swim at Sleaford leisure centre, rounding off with a static bike ride in the centre’s foyer.

If you see them you are encouraged to give generously - and get your car cleaned!
